is the coolest person ever.Seriously. He is so wise and mature for someone who is only 18. He does everything to serve God. He knows what he wants in life. He makes the best out of every situation. He has such a loving heart. He does not think about what God can do for him, but what HE can do for God. He has so much kindness and compassion for people. He always tries his best to please God. He is an encouragement to me. He is what I needed in my life. I thank God that he has put him in my life because there is no one else i would rather be with. Not only is he godly, but he is funny (and witty). He can always make me laugh by doing something stupid or goofy. Along with being funny, he is genuinly nice. He always goes out of his way to do cute little things for me. He is fun to cuddle with. He is cute.We have the same beliefs and goals. God gave him to me for a reason. He is perfect for me.
i am not that good at writing but these are just my thoughts about my amazing boyfriend :)
"Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, sobe holy in all you do; for it is written : ‘Be holy, because i am holy.’ "
Forrest’s book “Not a fan” by Kyle Idleman today at starbucks when a man asked me about the book. He was a pastor and said he had heard about it but hasnt read it and wanted to know if it was good. He said he was preaching on the same topic tomorow : How we can devote ourselves daily to Christ, to truely love God and to be a follower of him, not just a fan, which can not always be easy. He mentioned the verse he was basing his sermon on: Luke 9:23 : “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me”. Right after we got done talking the first thing i saw on the page I was on was that verse he just said word for word! ( page 130). That was so awesome how God pointed out that verse to me like that!
some things that really made me think were : (straight from this book)
"Fans want to have just enough pleasure without having to risk feeling any pain. We want to enjoy what’s available to us without having to sacrifice for it.
Instead of come after we hold back. It’s not that we don’t want a relationship with Jesus; we do. We just don’t want it to cost us very much. To go back to the romance metaphor, it’s like a man and a woman who have been dating. Things get pretty serious, and she wants to get married. He loves her and doesn’t want to lose her, but he doesn’t want to get married. He’s afraid that if he makes that kind of commitment it will require too much of him or somehow he’ll miss out on something better. So he makes the suggestion, “Hey, why don’t we move in together?” Translated: “How about I get all the benefits of marriage without having to make any of the commitments and sacrifices?” (134).
I bet God feels pretty sad knowing that alot of the time we just want what he can give us instead of what we can give him.
Many people don’t think of a relationship with God being a real relationship. But it is so much deeper than you would think!! I want to give everything I can to God because i love him.
"God doesn’t need or want your time, your money, or your worship, he wants you. He wants your love. He longs for you to passionately pursue him, and all those things are come after indicators. They are outer signs that point to an inner reality that you love Jesus more than anything else.” (136).
